With Windows Messenger 8 you can chat online via text, voice, mobile phone or even video conversation (real time) with your friends, family, or colleagues. It lets you see when your friends are online and exchange instant messages with them. Hear and see smiles with new Video Conversation.

New features include Nudges and animated Winks to help you get attention or emphasize your point. Create custom backgrounds, show unique personal display photos and personal names along with a custom message. Also Dynamic Display Pictures were added, they have emotions and will change based on the emoticons sent.
There is the option to sign-into MSN Messenger and appear offline until you change your online status.In addition, it allows you to invite or accept an invitation to add users to your contact list; this way, people outside your list cannot communicate with you without your approval.
